Dal Tadka

Ingredients


  • Moong dhuli dal (yellow split gram) - 1/2 cup (washed and soaked)

  • Tomatoes (chopped) - 1 medium

  • Onion (chopped) - large

  • Garlic (chopped)- 3 cloves

  • Green chillies (chopped) -1

  • Cumin seeds-½ tsp

  • Turmeric-1 tsp

  • Red chillie powder/ paprika-1/4 tsp

  • Coriander powder-1 tsp

  • Amchoor (dry mango powder)- 1 tsp (can use lemon juice instead)

  • Fresh coriander leaves (chopped) - 1 tsp

  • Salt-to taste


METHOD

1. Wash and soak dal for few minutes

2. Boil dal with 1 cup water, salt and turmeric for 20-25 mins till mushy

3. Heat ghee in a pan and add cumin till they splutter

4. Add garlic, onions, tomatoes, green chillies and sauté till golden brown

5. When oil starts to separate, add red chilli powder, coriander powder, arnchoor and salt

6.Add the above mixture to dal and adjust thickness with boiling water

7. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves
