Dal Tadka

Ingredients
Moong dhuli dal (yellow split gram) - 1/2 cup (washed and soaked)
Tomatoes (chopped) - 1 medium
Onion (chopped) - large
Garlic (chopped)- 3 cloves
Green chillies (chopped) -1
Cumin seeds-½ tsp
Turmeric-1 tsp
Red chillie powder/ paprika-1/4 tsp
Coriander powder-1 tsp
Amchoor (dry mango powder)- 1 tsp (can use lemon juice instead)
Fresh coriander leaves (chopped) - 1 tsp
Salt-to taste
METHOD
1. Wash and soak dal for few minutes
2. Boil dal with 1 cup water, salt and turmeric for 20-25Â mins till mushy
3. Heat ghee in a pan and add cumin till they splutter
4. Add garlic, onions, tomatoes, green chillies and sauté till golden brown
5. When oil starts to separate, add red chilli powder, coriander powder, arnchoor and salt
6.Add the above mixture to dal and adjust thickness with boiling water
7. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves
